What is chimp. ?

chimp. is a Singaporean superapp created as an alternative for users to always get the best services.

Target Audience

Singaporeans, 18 - 65 years old

My role

UI Design

Goal

Design a superapp (1 month)

Core Features

Onboarding 👋

Users are able to sign up with their mobile number and the onboarding process will inform them of the available services on chimp.

Food Delivery 🥡

Users will be able to access the Food Delivery section of the app to view the greatest food deals in Singapore at the moment.

Research

Surveys

Before starting the design process, I explored superapps by distributing a survey to classmates and friends aged 20 to 30. (Take note that this was done during the COVID-19 period.)

The following is information that I have acquired from the survey:

Most users use the food delivery apps, followed by transportation services.
80% of users do not look at other services on the app, only the ones they use.
60% of users think that current eCommerce websites lack consistency among all services.

What User Wants

After completing my survey, I was able to identify the services that people want on superapps:

1. Food Delivery
2. Transportation Services
3. Grocery Shopping

Competitive Analysis

To get a sense of who are in the current market, I signed up for superapps that are popular in Singapore.

Identify Goal

The conclusion of the research helped me to identify the services that I should design for this project, which includes Food Delivery, Transportation Services and Grocery Delivery. All of the features need to have the same brand identity and the entire app must look consistent.

Interaction Design

User Flow

After identifying the core features on chimp.,  I created a rough flowchart to visualise how the app will flow from screen to screen.

Wireframing

Wireframing allowed me to gain a rough understanding of key screens as well as map out necessary features.

UI Design

Style Guide

In order to ensure that designs are consistent, I have created a style guide for myself.

Final Designs

Login/ Sign Up

In order to make sign up efficient, I have opted to use mobile number, just like the other superapps. Users will also be informed what services chimp. provides once they are logged in.

Food Delivery

Users are able to access the Food Delivery feature and get the best deals on chimp.

Feedback

1. The professor felt that introducing the features to the users after signing up is a good method to bring attention to the available services.
2. Brand Identity is consistent in all pages and the designs are intuitive.
3. Placement of elements can be better to retain users. (Example: Discounted prices should be shown to users more often to inform them about good deals).

Key Takeaways

1. I learnt how to use Figma competently.
2. UI/UX design is not just about making the product look pretty, but it has to be intuitive to the users as well.
3. Design what the users want and not what I think is better.
